Filling the Nursing Gap

Created to increase the number of prepared nurses in North Carolina, the RIBN program is a partnership between community colleges and universities in western North Carolina that dually enrolls students in a seamless four-year nursing curriculum. The program hopes to fill the nursing shortage in North Carolina by quickly training a much-needed workforce to meet the needs of a growing population.

The Foundation for Nursing Excellence coordinated the RIBN project from 2008-2016 with financial support from The Duke Endowment, the Jonas Center for Nursing Excellence, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the NC Area Health Education Centers.
